What : Gateshead Council is providing volunteer opportunities for cultural volunteers to get involved in events organised by Cultural Services. Many events are outdoors (ie Gateshead International Stadium, Saltwell Park, Gateshead Flower Shows etc) and volunteers can contribute to these events in a very positive way. Activities for volunteers may include ticket collection, assisting with circus workshops/music workshops, marshalling for charity races and walks, wheelchair loans scheme and escorting the visually impaired to a book group.

Training/Expenses : There may be opportunities for training and to provide feedback to the council on the success or otherwise of events. Also social events for volunteers are organised. Travel expenses are paid to volunteers.

Skills Acquisition : Customer care skills, interpersonal skills, team building skills, communication skills, confidence building.
