The Children’s Foundation provides leadership and raises funds to support research that will make a significant contribution to the health and well-being of children and young people.
The charity seeks to add value to the delivery of NHS services targeted at children and young people.
They also create and support programmes in partnership with other agencies designed to address five priority areas (smoking, obesity/exercise, safety, mental health, disability
Volunteers are required for the following roles:
• Organising Events – The Great North Run, St Patrick’s Day, Golf, Stock Market Challenge or organise your own events e.g. coffee morning, dress down day, ball/dinner.
The Children’s Foundation can offer support volunteers to organise their own events (eg banners/posters/help to promote event/PR).
• Collections – supermarket collections and bag packing, street and carol singing
• Regional Small Grants – The CF has a panel who distributes grants to community groups who work with children in projects that help to improve children’s health. These groups often need help with projects on an ad hoc basis. The roles change according to the project’s needs so a flexible approach would be ideal.
• Whoops Child Safety Project – building-site; bully/buddying sessions; baby and child safety, out in the community, meeting parents and handing out leaflets, observe a couple of sessions.
• Market Research Volunteers – The CF is looking for a volunteer or small team of volunteers willing to carry out market research questionnaire in Newcastle City Centre and then collate and analyse results.
The aims of the questionnaire is to evaluate the general public’s awareness of the charity and their work so that the findings can impact upon future marketing and press work. It would be great if the volunteer/team would also be keen to carry out similar questionnaires in Sunderland, Durham, Northumberland and Teesside so we can assess the awareness of the charity in these areas too.
• Company Research – to research and compile a list of companies for the fundraising manager to target. (eg civil service companies and companies involved in health issues relating to those of the CF)
• Office Volunteer – helping out with data entry, mailing lists, collating fundraising packs, general research etc.
• Marketing Volunteer – helping out and assisting the PR and events co-ordinator with media evaluations, competitor analysis, updating the website and writing press releases.
Skills Acquisition – Work experience, team work, communication skills, business awareness, self awareness, planning and organising, initiative and innovation.
