SCAN: Student Community Action Newcastle
SCAN exists to serve the community by integrating students at Newcastle University within quality volunteering projects. There is a huge potential for reciprocal learning and development through uniting student volunteers and the wider community. Being at University brings about profound changes in personal development and there are so many options to help students make the most of this time. There are equally as many ways to help them fritter away this time! Volunteering is a superb way of learning new skills, having fun, meeting interesting people, learning about where you live and finding out who you are and what you want to be.
SCAN's Mission Statement
"To match the needs of the local community with the skills and enthusiasm of student volunteers"
Terry Ryall, v Chief Executive, said: “v is delighted to be able to provide financial support to SCAN through our Match Fund programme for this project which will inspire young people to volunteer in Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.”
