The Courier has been the voice of Newcastle students since 1948 and for nearly 60 years we've been committed to bringing you the headlines that matter.  With a readership of over 12 000 and rising, it has won numerous awards, including the coveted Guardian Student Newspaper of the Year.  During term time it comes out every week so make sure you pick up your free copy!

For the past three years we've also had Pulp, our sister entertainments pullout which is there to give you the low down on what's happening in the arts, ents, film and music scene in the lovely city of Newcastle.

If you're interested in a career in media The Courier can really help you on your way.  You don't need any previous experience - we'll give you all the training and support you need to get started.  Once you've taken the first step you can get involved in all aspects of production, from writing gig reviews to reporting the latest local scandal; from photographing the latest big BUSA game, to helping design the front page.  Employers love the experience that you'll gain during your time with us and it's great fun.  It's YOUR student newspaper and YOUR voice so make sure you use it!

Pop into the office at anytime (opposite the Cochrane Lounge on the first floor) and we'll direct you to the relevant people depending what takes your journalistic fancy!  Alternatively, feel free to contact the Editor, Gemma Davies on 0191 239 3940 at any time, or email editor.union@ncl.ac.uk.
