The Union Society, Newcastle Univeristy Students' Union

Newcastle University Debating Society is where people can air their views on current political, social and moral issues or just enjoy watching an argument! We holds in-house weekly debates on a variety of topics, which can range from the serious to the ridiculous. We also compete in national and International tournaments, recently reaching the finals at Prague and Manchester Universities. The society provides full training for those who have not spoken before at a competition and encourages new speakers to come along to watch a few debates! We have a pub social every Tuesday after the meeting and a big night out at the end of every term. Newcastle University is also bidding to hold the European debating Championships in 2009 --the second biggest debating competition in the world, and would like to hear from anybody who wants to be involved.
