NSRlive is Newcastle University's very own radio station! We broadcast 9am til 9pm every day of the week, with a multitude of DJs playing everything from international alt. to cheesy pop. We are an online radio station as opposed to a regular FM or similar; to listen to us:

1. Click on the 'On Air' picture above, or the blue text.
2. Click 'open' when prompted.
3. Within seconds your default media player will open and start streaming live radio straight from our studio!

As well as providing great music, we also have a News program once a week from our News Team, and much more- including chat, comedy and even a shipping forecast! This website will provide you access to all of this.

As well as the actual radio, we also have a large music team who review new bands/artists. We achieve this mostly through record labels sending us cds/presspacks, but recently we have been receiving a lot of new music through Myspace bands, who send in material every week. As well as this, music team members review live gigs and interview bands, which is a great opportunity for people who want to improve their journalistic skills, or simply interview their favourite band. All of this, and more (including exclusive pictures and podcasts) are available on this website. The team meets and distributes assignments every week, so keep checking back for new material! We are always looking for new team members and reviewers, so feel free to come along to a meeting; examples of interviews and gigs we have recently done are: Patrick Wolf, The Divine Comedy, The Futureheads, Ash and Nine Black Alps.

A bit about NSRlive

• We are kindly sponsored by The Gate in Newcastle
• We love new and interesting music, and will never turn away demos or presspacks from aspiring artists; you might even get a play on the radio if the reviewer likes you enough!
• We have a large exec, and are very diverse in what we do, meaning people interested in news, sports, entertainments (film/drama etc), technical and marketing all have the opportunity to work here too. We are a very sociable group! Most of our meetings end up finishing in the union bar, or at a pub. We have close ties with World Head Quarters, and last year we were invited to DJ at the amazing Love Music, Hate Racism event, amongst others. We generally have our socials at WHQ, too
• We recently got our own room at Solution- the green room. A number of DJs play every week... so if you want to come to solution and listen to proper music, you know where to find it. Expect good things.
• Our office can be found on the 2nd floor of the Union building, if you need to find us for any reason! There is normally someone in there during the day; if not, please email the exec concerned.

Competitions & giveaways

Every so often a record label or promotional company sends us free stuff to give away, so keep checking back! Our last prize was a pair of Futureheads tickets, and before that a load of 'American Gangster' film goodies, so as you can see- it varies!
