If you fancy an escape from Newcastle then you may want to visit one of the following:
Corbridge and Hadrian's Wall
View the remains of Emporer Hadrian's famous wall, take a relaxing walk and lunch in a country pub. Just a 30 minute train ride from Newcastle.
Durham City
Only 20 minutes away on a direct train from Newcastle. Enjoy the attractive architecture and olde English charm. Visit the Cathedral, University or even just the shops.
The Beach
Jump on the metro, take your friends and some beach games to either Tynemouth, Whitley Bay or Cullercoats. Whitley Bay is known as the North East's Blackpool. If this doesn't take your fancy then explore the coves and experience the superb fish and chips at Tynemouth. But BEWARE of the cold North Sea!!!!
If you make yourselves familiar with the local buses then take a trip to Holy Island or Bamburgh Castle for some more cultural attractions.
