This busy area of Newcastle, is renowned for being the student 'hub' of the city, with its legendary Osborne Road which is the perfect location for chilling out in a beer garden on a sunny summer afternoon, or grabbing a cheap yet tasty meal.

Jesmond has everything a student could possibly desire from its very own Tesco Metro to various other shops and cafes. The rents are more expensive than most other areas, but there are some hidden bargains to be found if you look carefully. The plethora of Italian restaurants in Jesmond represent a pleasant change from the pricier bars with regular happy hours for cheap pizza and pasta as well as tapas, Chinese and Indian restaurants. Jesmond is served by two different Metro stops so there is no excuse to get to lectures late! However, if your rent is leaving you a bit short then West Jesmond is still only a fifteen/twenty minute walk from the university.
